Webelos Woods 9/27/14

It’s that time of year again when boy scout troops host Webelos Cub Scouts and their friendscamp fire at Corriganville Park on 9/27/14! All scouts are expected to turn out  in Class A uniforms to meet and greet Webelos Cub Scouts from Simi Valley and Moorpark packs, as they decide which troops to join after bridging in the spring. Troop 649 will again be hosting Archery, one of the favorite activities of the event. We’ll also be cooking lunch in Dutch ovens to share with our guests. More details can be found here.

Memorial Day with Troop 649!

Troop 649 scouts are shown on the front page of the May 30th edition of the Simi Valley Acorn, as they march in the Joint Color Guard for the Memorial Day Ceremony at the Pioneer Cemetery honoring men and women who have served their country in the armed forces. Other scouts participated as part of the Honor Guard at the flags during the ceremony. They all put crosses, and Stars of David, with flags on service members’ grave sites before the event started, as is the custom for our Troop every Memorial Day.

Memorial Day

Hello,

This coming Monday, May 26, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10049 will be having its annual Memorial Day Ceremony. As a troop, we help the VFW set up in preparation for the ceremony. The set up begins at 8:00 a.m. and the ceremony itself begins at 10:00 a.m. We will also need boys to help with the flags in the ceremony. The ceremony is held at El Rancho Simi Pioneer Cemetery, Simi Valley, CA.

Thank you!
